One clinic wins half of Manchester's AI search. Most win nothing.

We put twenty-five questions to AI-assisted search — the kind patients actually ask before booking — and recorded every Greater Manchester clinic that came back. Seventy-eight clinics appeared at least once. One appeared in twelve of the twenty-five. What separates it isn't reputation, price, or how good its injectors are. It's something you can see in the address bar.

The index

Ranked by how many of the twenty-five patient questions returned each clinic. National chains are marked — they compete on page volume rather than local reputation, and independents should read their position against the other independents.

What the leaders have in common

We expected the top of this table to be the best-known names in Manchester aesthetics. It isn't. Every clinic in the top four has a page for each treatment it offers, named for the treatment and the city:

  • manchesteraesthetics.com/tear-trough-fillers-manchester/
  • manchesteraesthetics.com/hyalase-treatment-manchester/
  • neo-derm-clinics.com/botox-treatments-manchester/
  • sknclinics.co.uk/microneedling-in-manchester

One page, one treatment, one city, repeated across the menu. That alone is enough to reach the top ten.

But it doesn't explain CLNQ, which won twelve questions when the next clinic won nine. For that, look at what CLNQ has that almost nobody else does:

  • clnq.com/conditions/hyperhidrosis/
  • clnq.com/conditions/rosacea/
  • clnq.com/conditions/dark-circles/
  • lumiereclinic.co.uk/conditions/pigmentation-uneven-skin/
  • currentbodyclinic.com/conditions/melasma
  • re-enhance.com/your-conditions/eyes/dark-circles/

Pages about the problem, not the treatment.

This matters because of how patients actually ask. Nobody types “hyaluronidase”. They ask about their lumpy lip. Nobody searches “Dermalan” — they search “the brown patches on my face”. They describe a condition and ask what to do about it, and the assistant answers with whoever has written about that condition.

Every clinic in this study with a dedicated conditions section — CLNQ, Lumiere, CurrentBody, re-enhance — was named more than once. Most clinics have only a treatment menu, which answers a question their patients don't know how to ask yet.

The clinics winning AI search in Manchester are not the best known. They are the ones who wrote about the problem instead of the product.

The market splits in two

Treatment questions

“Microneedling Manchester.” “How much is lip filler.” These go to whoever has the page — which increasingly means national chains with industrial page coverage. Independents are being squeezed out of the highest-intent questions in the market.

Trust questions

“Safest clinic.” “Nurse-led.” “Save Face accredited.” These go to whoever appears on the accreditation registers and directories — Save Face, Glowday, Fresha, Treatwell. Independents still win here, but they win through someone else's website, not their own.

Ten of the fifteen answers were sourced from a directory or listicle rather than any clinic's own site. Most Manchester clinics are renting their visibility. The three at the top of this index own theirs.

One more thing worth knowing

Across several queries, results leaked to Manchester, New Hampshire — American clinics returned to British patients asking about British treatments. It recurred often enough to be structural rather than incidental, and it is caused by something correctable in an afternoon.

We also observed at least one Manchester practitioner appearing under two separate business identities, with neither accumulating the authority of the other. Where we've found this, we've told the clinic privately rather than published it.

Your clinic is in this study. We'll tell you where.

Seventy-eight Greater Manchester clinics were assessed. We've published the top fourteen. If you weren't listed, you were named once or not at all — and we'll send you your position, the questions you lost, and which clinic won each one. No charge, and nothing to sign up for.
